Quality Assurance Practice Policy

Statement of Aims

This practice is dedicated to providing dental care of a high standard and consistent quality for all our patients. All treatment offered and provided will be clinically justified, appropriate and carried out with proper regard to the dignity and autonomy of our patients.

This practice is committed to:

  • Setting and maintaining high standards in both clinical and non-clinical situations
  • Setting and maintaining a high standard of cross infection control
  • Care and monitoring of the whole mouth, including oral cancer screening for all patients
  • Discussion of¬†treatment¬†options and costs with patients so that informed choices can be made when treatment planning
  • Consultation with our patients on services provided by the practice, including the operation of a complaints procedure in accordance with current guidelines
  • Consultation with our staff via regular meetings and on-going training appropriate to the needs of the practice
  • Continuing professional development for all clinical members of the practice to comply with GDC requirements
  • On-going staff appraisal
  • Monitoring of all clinical staff to ensure that safe practice is maintained at all times
  • Compliance with all legal requirements relating to radiological protection. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of all radiation equipment used at the practice and a radiation survey on all radiation equipment is carried out every three years
  • Elizabeth Smithard is responsible for monitoring the quality assurance system within the practice
